The Amazon for Christ team will continue the mission of the Great Physician while working with national pastors to evangelize unreached people groups with the aid of mobile medical clinics. Our end goal is to help with a new church plant in the villages where we will work. The team will also gain firsthand experience in several aspects of missionary work that are unique to the Amazon, such as jungle boat ministry, school evangelism, tropical wildlife, and the unique hospitality of the region.
Our team will be hosted by Missionaries Mark Gerosin, Peter Putney, Aaron Reisinger, Sarah Goodman and several national pastors.
Brazil, Colombia and Peru are among nine South American countries that share the Amazon basin. The Amazon holds the largest concentration of uncontacted people found anywhere on earth. The team will be traveling by boat to remote river villages in the region. The people of the Amazon are comprised of three groups: local fishing villages, indigenous tribes, and uncontacted tribes. The focus will be on the fishing villages where Spanish or Portuguese are predominately spoken and ministry opportunities among the Ticuna, an indigenous people group in Latin America.
The team members will meet in Miami to travel together directly to Leticia. Upon making the $100 deposit, each participant will receive a handbook detailing pertinent information to help prepare for the trip. Additional money may be brought along for activities, gifts, or souvenirs.
